About Course
A course on Sustainable Public Procurement in Kenya: Policy to Practice provides learners with an understanding of how public procurement can support economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion within Kenya’s public sector. The course explores Kenya’s procurement laws and policies, including the Constitution, the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (PPADA), and Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) frameworks.
Participants learn how to integrate sustainability principles into procurement processes by considering value for money, environmental impact, ethical sourcing, local supplier development, and inclusion of youth, women, and persons with disabilities through initiatives such as AGPO. The course also covers practical implementation strategies, e-procurement systems, supplier evaluation, risk management, compliance, and challenges affecting sustainable procurement in Kenya.
